January 21

On Thursday morning we woke to rain and was glad that we had hooked up the night before. We were rolling down the road by 7:30 am. We arrived at the Tiffany RV park in Mesa in the early morning. There was one open site and it was a tight one, but Bob backed that baby in like the pro that he is. Our back window had a lovely view of bougainvillea pressed against it. After getting set up, we went to lunch at Olive Garden before my Doctor’s appointment in Scottsdale. Later in the day, we made contact with Jay Kriner and Don Moock, our friends from Alaska, and had a great dinner at PF Changs. When we came outside to go back to the RV Park,  the wind was howling and it was raining sideways, but it was a warm rain!

Later on the news there was a reported Tornado that blew some tents onto the I-10 from the big car auction that we had driven by. Apparently, it was the biggest rain storm that they have had in the Phoenix area in 30 years. Just our luck! Before we left, we spent the evening with our friends Valerie and Rik from Carstairs, Alberta, Canada who are wintering in Mesa. It wasn’t Mexico, but it was good to see them again.
