Hawaii

Maui, Hawaii, Fall 2011

It did not take us long to adjust to the warm sunshine and the majestic island of Maui. We loved the fact that we could see the ocean from our Hale Kai condo, not to mention enjoy the lovely sunsets, and watch the turtles on our beach.

The very best part, besides Leaha's (Lalanya's sister) and Mike's wedding, was spending every day with Jeremy, Lalanya, and Brecken. There is nothing that we treasured more than being on the beach and cuddling with Brecken.

We had a few days before the wedding to relax. We enjoyed walking along Kanapali Beach pushing Brecken in his stroller, snorkeling at Black Rock, browsing in the shops and people watching in Lahaina, and checking out the Nakelele blow hole.

Jeremy and Lalanya stayed at the Papakea just a short walk from our condo. We spent many hours of wonderful family time at their pool and our beach. Mr. Brecken was not to crazy about the being in the pool, as it was a bit cool.

The day before the wedding, all of the women enjoyed a lovely bridal lunch in Leaha's honor down in Kehei. The day of the wedding brought gorgeous weather and Olowalu Plantation was a perfect setting right on the ocean. I could have moved in!

After the wedding, Leaha and Lalanya's grandmother Sharon invited us to a picnic on Kamolole Beach. We had a wonderful day and it was fun catching up with Sharon who used to live in Kenai.

We spent the next day at he Kapalua Beach swimming and relaxing, and of course spoiling Brecken. Ahh, “life is good”!

Jeremy and Lalanya had everyone over for a barbeque at their pool. It was a fun day in spite of a rain shower.

Their condo was surrounded with lovely flowers and pools full of koi.

November 9th was Jeremy and Lalanya's anniversary and we watched Brecken. Since it was our last night in Maui, we had to watch the sunset.

We marveled at how wonderful it was to be grandparents. Few things bring us more joy than watching our beautiful grandson looking up and smiling at us.

Our 10 days in paradise came to an end and after hugs and tears, we said out goodbyes to Jeremy, Lalanya, and Brecken and flew back to Seattle.
