Preparing to Leave

Preparing to go on vacation for 3 months is no easy task! Even though the truck was packed and our bags were packed for the cruise to Vancouver, we still had plenty on our “To Do” list. As a result, it was 2:20 pm when we pulled out of the drive way. We had to be in Anchorage by 5:00 pm to deliver our truck to Weaver Brothers, who would put it on the barge for us. Of course Bob got us there with 15 minutes to spare, thanks to the radar gods! Our wonderful daughter-in-law, Lalanya picked us up and and took us to the Peppermill for dinner. The few almonds that we had eaten on the way to Anchorage left us hungry and shaky. We should have been prepared for our good friend Drew‘s(the bartender) killer drinks. On empty stomachs, we were relaxed in no time. It soon became a party! Lalanya’s friend Renee came with us, and of course Jenny, Drew’s wife and his brother, Lucas were there. We also saw our buddy Leo, Buzz and Wendi, and was surprised when Devin and Andrew popped in. Renee’s boyfriend, Mike showed up with some friends and before long Drew moved us to the Sea Galley side. If we had been smart, we would have gone back to Lalanya’s to get a good nights sleep, but instead, we rationalized that we had waited 40 years for this day and did not get home to 1 AM.
